1. Honest, hardworking employees. We especially loved Marvin. He works hard, does good work, cleans up after the job each day, and he is an honest, kind human being. We trust all of TJ Built’s employees, so much so that we gave Jim key to the house. 

2. Clean: as mentioned above, they clean up each day after working. 

3. Creative: Jim and Tom have creative solutions to unexpected problems that may arise. And they have wonderful suggestions for the house that we didn’t know were possibilities. For example, Tom  suggested we use a smooth texture for the walls. And it looks great. Tom suggested that we put in a gas line for our outside bbq. No need to keep replacing tanks. It has been a godsend. Many other examples too. 

4. Jim and Tom stand behind their work. If they had ever made a mistake, I know they would have taken responsibility for it. They are that kind of people. Honest and trustworthy.

“Jim and Tom were referred to us by a friend (whose renovation we loved) to help us add on an extra bathroom within our house, all new construction…and during the first year of the pandemic! Not only did the team do a fantastic job (notably carpenter Candelario and electrician/utilitarian Marvin), especially under the circumstances, they also took great pains to keep our family safe, which was greatly appreciated and no small task (using alternate makeshift entrances, keeping spaces sealed off, etc). Jim and Tom helped us sort through multiple seemingly small details that other contractors may have overlooked, all while patiently walking us through options and reasoning, which was a big deal as this was our first true renovation/construction project. Not only did we learn a ton with their help, but everything came in under budget and on schedule, which again was remarkable given the circumstances. “I met Tom and Jim in 2018 when they bid on a project to build-out a 5,000 square foot professional office for my firm in Corte Madera.  I did not know Tom and Jim, so I reached out to one of their clients that they have done many projects for; the reviews were outstanding so I hired Tom and Jim without further due diligence.  We were on a very tight schedule to coordinate the timing of the build-out and occupancy of the new premises to avoid significant penalties with our prior office space if we had delays.  In summary, Tom and Jim completed our job on-time and on-budget.  They were outstanding to work with and they did a great job of managing all of the various people and organizations involved including, us as clients, landlord, architect, city permitting and inspectors, sub-contractors and their own employees.”
